Q: What is the VAPA Specialist?
A: The Visual and Performing Arts Specialist (VAPA) is one full time position (FTE) that oversees art instruction at all elementary schools in Pleasanton. This position teaches art a few times a week to all grade levels. $200,000 is needed to fully fund this program each school year since there are nine elementary schools with over $6,500 children.
Q: If I designate my donation for Save the Music will it go there?
A: Yes if you designate your donation to VAPA Specialist, PSEE will provide a directed donation to the district for this position.
Q: If we don't raise the full amount for the VAPA Specialist what happens?
A: PSEE will work with the PSEE Advisory Board, Art teachers and district to provide the best program for kids possible. There are partial funding strategies that can preserve portions of the program.
Q: What if we raise too much?
A: The funding for this program is also uncertain for 2010-2011 school year. If we raise more than needed for the 09-10 school year we can provide a foundation for the next school year so that we can stabilize and keep this program going.
Q: Is my donation tax deductible?
A: YES! PSEE is a non-profit, public benefit corporation organized under the 501(c)3 tax code. Your donation should be fully deductible and we will provide a donation receipt to the address you supply.
Q: Why is Art important?
A: There is a strong link between study of the Arts and overall cognitive learning. The arts foster students' abilities to develop problem solving skills, flexibility, creativity, cooperative approaches, persistence, and responsibility as well as oral and written language skills.
